Koch DuraPure High Capacity (Extended Surface V-Cell Activated Carbon Filter)

Per Koch DuraPure Bulletin K-397-B, the Koch DuraPure High Capacity is an extended-surface V-cell activated carbon filter for high-volume gas-phase adsorption in commercial and industrial HVAC systems. The DuraPure uses premium grade granular 60% activated coconut shell carbon in a unique V-shaped frame — the High Capacity configuration delivers 8 lbs of solvent capacity per filter at 0.74″ w.g. initial pressure drop.

What you get: V-cell activated carbon filters, sold by the case

Each variant is a complete DuraPure High Capacity V-cell filter with a plastic and metal frame, individual moisture-resistant honeycomb carbon cells, and thermoplastic hot-melt sealant. All variants are 12″ deep; carbon load varies by face dimensions:

Specialized impregnated carbon (custom order)

The DuraPure is also available with specialized impregnated carbon media for removal of ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and other difficult-to-remove compounds that standard activated carbon is less effective against. These specialized configurations are custom-order — request a quote with your target contaminant profile and we'll work with Koch to specify the right impregnated media for your application.

Koch states this designation reflects the product meeting or exceeding their criteria in one or more of the following categories: earning LEED Points, reducing energy costs, extending filter lifecycles, conserving resources, and improving Indoor Environmental Quality.

Standard Capacity vs High Capacity — choosing your DuraPure

Koch produces DuraPure in two capacity tiers. The choice comes down to how much carbon you need vs how much pressure drop your HVAC system can handle:

• DuraPure High Capacity (this product): 8 lbs solvent capacity, 0.74″ w.g. initial pressure drop. 26 lbs of carbon in the 24x24x12 size. Use when service life and gas removal capacity are the priority, and your HVAC fan can handle the higher pressure drop. Trades airflow for adsorption capacity.
• DuraPure Standard Capacity: 5 lbs solvent capacity, 0.34″ w.g. initial pressure drop. 18 lbs of carbon in the 24x24x12 size. Use when pressure-drop budget is tight or when lighter contaminant loads don't require the High Capacity's additional carbon.

Sizing and ordering notes

• Sizes are nominal. Per Koch K-397-B, actual dimensions are slightly less: 24x24x12 nominal = 23.38″ x 23.38″ x 11.50″ actual; same 1/2″ pattern in width and 1/2″ in depth.
• 12″ deep filters require deep filter racks. These are commercial/industrial-scale filters — verify your filter housing accommodates 12″ depth before ordering.
• Single or double header available — specify when ordering. Header configuration affects how the filter mounts in the housing.
• Each variant ships in the case quantity shown. 24x24x12 and 20x24x12 ship as individual units; 12x24x12 ships 2 per case.
• Replacement schedule: Drive by pressure drop curve and odor breakthrough. With the recommended 1.0″ w.g. final pressure drop and the published initial pressure drop, you can estimate service life from your typical airflow and contaminant load. For specialty impregnated carbon configurations targeting ammonia, H₂S, or other difficult contaminants, monitor for odor breakthrough rather than pressure drop.
• Carbon disposal: Spent carbon may have specific disposal requirements depending on captured contaminants and quantities. For chemical plant or industrial applications, follow your local hazardous waste regulations.
