Product details

The Koch Super Grade 2" Fiberglass Pre-Cut Media Pad is a flat fiberglass filter pad in standard HVAC face sizes, designed for 2-inch frame applications, commercial pad rack systems, and pre-stage filtration ahead of higher-MERV final filters. The pad is constructed of continuous-filament spun glass fibers arranged in a progressively dense blanket and coated with Koch's special adhesive gel for enhanced dust holding capacity. Each pad is color-coded with White upstream / Blue downstream for easy installation orientation.

What you get: sold by the case

Pre-cut fiberglass pads are sold by the case, not individually. The price you see for each variant is the full case price, and each variant label tells you exactly how many pads are in that case. Case counts by size:

  • 16x20x250 pads per case
  • 16x25x250 pads per case
  • 20x20x250 pads per case
  • 20x25x250 pads per case
  • 24x24x250 pads per case

Need a partial case, individual-pad pricing, or a different quantity than the standard case? Request a quote with your exact count and we can work out the pricing.

Why fiberglass at this efficiency tier

Koch Super Grade fiberglass pads are engineered for maximum airflow with reliable dust capture. The progressively dense spun-glass construction lets air pass through with minimal restriction while the adhesive-gel-coated fibers trap larger particulates deep in the media. Efficiency builds as the media loads — coarse particles caught upstream help capture finer particles further downstream.

This is an equipment-protection efficiency tier, suited to systems where high airflow and continuous service matter more than fine-particle capture. The 2" format is specified when 2-inch frame applications, commercial pad rack systems, and pre-stage filtration ahead of higher-MERV final filters.

Where 2" Super Grade pads are used

Pre-cut fiberglass pads are the filter medium itself — they slide into reusable pad frames, get held by retention grids in blanket installations, or stack into pad rack systems. Common applications:

  • 2-inch frame final filtration in commercial HVAC where MERV 3 capture and high airflow meet the spec
  • Pre-stage filtration ahead of higher-MERV final stages in multi-stage commercial systems
  • Pad rack systems with 2-inch deep racks for industrial and large-commercial use
  • Equipment protection in air handlers protecting expensive downstream coils, blowers, and high-MERV finals
  • Blanket installations needing 2-inch loft for retention grids

Super Grade 2" construction and specifications

  • Media: Spun glass fiberglass, continuous filaments, progressively dense graded blanket
  • Adhesive treatment: Special adhesive gel coating on each fiber - creates "wicking" action that enhances dust holding capacity beyond standard fiberglass
  • Color coding: White upstream / Blue downstream (downstream tint for easy installation orientation)
  • Depth: 2" (2 inches nominal)
  • Available face sizes: 16x20, 16x25, 20x20, 20x25, 24x24
  • MERV rating: 3 per ASHRAE 52.2
  • Reference bulletin: Koch K 386D

What MERV 3 captures

Captures larger airborne dust, lint, hair, and pollen at maximum airflow. Standard equipment-protection efficiency for systems where airflow capacity and reliable dust holding take priority over fine-particle capture. Efficiency builds as the media loads.

Choosing across the Super Grade fiberglass line

Koch offers Super Grade fiberglass pads in three depths to match different frame and service-life requirements:

  • Super Grade 1" (MERV 3): shallowest depth, residential and 1-inch frame applications, blue tint
  • Super Grade 2" (this product) (MERV 3): mid-depth, commercial 2-inch frame and pad rack applications, blue tint
  • Super Grade 4" (MERV 4): deepest, extended service life, industrial pad rack and high-volume installations, yellow/gold tint

Match the depth to your existing frame slot. The 1-inch and 2-inch versions share MERV 3 efficiency — choose by your frame depth. The 4-inch version steps up to MERV 4 with significantly extended service life through graduated depth loading.

Need synthetic instead of fiberglass?

For applications where fiberglass break-off is not permitted (food processing, pharmaceutical environments, hospitals with sensitive downstream filtration), Koch also offers a complete line of synthetic polyester pre-cut pads in similar configurations. See the SS5/SS10/SPT5/SPT10/SPT-30/SPT-550 synthetic pad line for all-polyester alternatives, including tackified and antimicrobial options.

Sizing and ordering notes

  • Match face dimensions and depth to your existing frame. Pads are sized as Width x Height x Depth (e.g., 24x24x2). The depth is fixed for this product line at 2" — chosen by which Super Grade product you order, not by the variant.
  • Each variant shows its case quantity in the dropdown label. Look for "(Case of N)" next to each size.
  • Available in 5 standard HVAC face sizes: 16x20, 16x25, 20x20, 20x25, 24x24. For non-standard sizes or bulk roll lengths, request a quote.
  • Pads can be field-cut to non-standard dimensions if needed. Note: fiberglass cuts release loose fibers; cut on a clean surface and dispose of trimmings carefully.
  • Frames sold separately. Pre-cut pads are the filter medium — they require a reusable pad frame, retention grid, or pad rack to install in the air handler. Contact us for compatible frame and rack options.
  • Bulk roll versions also available. Super Grade fiberglass is also sold in bulk rolls for cut-to-size facility-scale applications. Request a quote for bulk roll pricing and lengths.

Why RememberTheFilter.com

A filtration company, not a warehouse reseller

Family-founded in 2006, built on the back of 50 years of HVAC filtration experience. Two decades selling filters online — and we only stock what we'd put our own name behind.

Trusted manufacturers only

Every filter we sell comes from a manufacturer we've vetted — AAF Flanders, Koch, NaturalAire, PrimeShield, and a short list of others.

No marketplace-style third-party sellers swapping inventory. No overseas knockoffs relabeled with a domestic-sounding name.

Two decades online

RememberTheFilter.com has been selling HVAC filters online since 2006 — family-founded, founder-operated, and still run by the people who started it.

Schools, clinics, property managers, and homeowners have been ordering from us for years — some of them since before Amazon even sold filters.

Nationwide shipping network

Our distribution network ships from multiple U.S. locations — so most orders arrive faster than coast-to-coast routing would suggest.

Customer service is based in Lake Stevens, Washington — U.S.-based, reachable by phone, text, or email.

Commercial & Bulk Orders

Buying this filter for a property, fleet, or facility?

Schools, clinics, property management, multifamily, and government facilities order from us in standing rotation. Volume pricing, tax-exempt setup, and scheduled delivery available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we get every day

From sizing and MERV ratings to bulk orders and subscriptions — here's what customers ask before they buy. For product-specific specs, check the description above.

Sizing & fit
How do I know what size filter I need?

The size is printed on the edge of your current filter. Read the nominal size — for example, 16x25x1 — and order that size. The actual filter will measure about 1/2″ less than the nominal size on each dimension. That's industry standard and is how the filter slides into the slot without binding.

If the printed size is worn off, measure the filter slot itself — not the old filter — and round up to the nearest standard size. Our How to Measure guide walks through it step by step.

What if the filter doesn't fit my system?

You're covered by our Filter Fit Guarantee. If the filter doesn't fit your system as expected, contact us within 30 days and we'll make it right — including custom-sized replacements for non-standard slots. One flat $30 fee covers exchanges under the guarantee, and we'll walk through sizing with you so the replacement fits the first time.

Do you offer custom filter sizes?

Custom filters are made to specification down to 1/8″ precision — useful for older homes, clinical spaces, schools, and commercial AHUs with non-standard slot dimensions. Available in every MERV rating from 1–4 through 13, plus washable and extended-surface options.

If you don't see your size listed in our standard lineup, contact us or request a quote and we'll confirm what's available in the media and efficiency you need.

MERV & performance
What is a MERV rating and which one do I need?

MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) is the industry-standard scale for how effectively a filter captures airborne particles. Higher numbers capture smaller particles. Most homes do well on MERV 8 to MERV 11. MERV 13 is the step up for pets, allergies, or wildfire smoke exposure — if your HVAC system supports it.

The MERV Rating Explained guide has the full breakdown, or take the 60-second MERV quiz for a personalized recommendation.

Will a higher MERV filter hurt my HVAC system?

Not when it's matched properly. Higher MERV filters do add airflow resistance, but most modern furnaces and air handlers handle MERV 11 comfortably, and many support MERV 13 — especially systems with 4″ or deeper media cabinets. The filter slot depth matters as much as the MERV rating.

Older systems (pre-2000) or tight 1″ slots may struggle with MERV 13. If airflow feels weak from vents, the blower sounds strained, or the coil ices up, step back down to MERV 10 or MERV 11. When in doubt, upgrade in steps — MERV 8 → 11 → 13 — and monitor for a cycle before moving up again.

What's the difference between MERV, MPR, and FPR ratings?

MERV is the universal industry standard, published through ASHRAE 52.2 testing and used by HVAC professionals worldwide. MPR (Micro-Particle Rating) is 3M's internal scale for their Filtrete line. FPR (Filter Performance Rating) is Home Depot's proprietary rating for filters sold in their stores.

MPR and FPR roughly correlate to MERV within their own brand lineups, but they aren't directly comparable across retailers. A Filtrete MPR 1900 is roughly MERV 13; an FPR 10 is also roughly MERV 13. Always check the MERV rating for an apples-to-apples comparison.

What is pleated filter media made out of?

Pleated filter media is a synthetic nonwoven fabric — most often polyester, sometimes a cotton-polyester blend — pleated over a supporting frame of galvanized wire or paperboard. The pleats add surface area, and the frame holds them open so the media keeps its shape under airflow.

Shipping & delivery
How fast will my filter ship?

Standard stocked filters ship within 1–2 business days from the warehouse nearest to your shipping address. Most orders arrive in 2–5 business days via UPS or FedEx. Custom-sized filters are made to order and have their own production lead time listed in the product description.

Current production and shipping timelines are always live on our production schedule page.

Do you ship to Alaska, Hawaii, or PO boxes?

We ship to Alaska and Hawaii — shipping is calculated at checkout based on the address. Free shipping on orders $50+ applies to the lower 48 contiguous states only; AK and HI orders ship at carrier rates.

PO boxes cannot be accepted. Filter boxes are physically oversized and our carriers (UPS and FedEx) won't deliver to PO boxes at this size. You'll need a street address, business address, or pickup location for delivery.

Orders, returns & subscriptions
Can I return or exchange a filter I don't need?

Unopened stocked filters can be returned within 30 days under our refund policy. Custom-sized filters are made to your specification and aren't returnable unless they arrived damaged or incorrectly sized from us.

If a filter arrives damaged or doesn't match what was ordered, submit a claim and we'll replace it — no back-and-forth.

How does the subscribe & save option work?

Most filters ship on recurring delivery at a 10% discount — cadences from every month through every 6 months, plus an annual option at 5% off. Pick the interval that matches your change-out schedule on the product page, and we'll auto-ship on time with no reordering required.

You're only charged when an order ships, and the discount applies to every delivery — not just the first one.

Can I pause, skip, or change my subscription?

Yes, any time. Pause, skip a delivery, change the cadence, swap the filter, update the shipping address, or cancel entirely — all from your account dashboard. No emails required, no hold times, no cancellation fees. See our subscription policy for the full details.

Bulk, commercial & tax-exempt
Do you offer bulk pricing for schools, clinics, or property managers?

Yes — bulk and volume pricing is available for facilities, multifamily properties, fleets, and any organization ordering in standing rotation. We work with schools, clinics, property management companies, government agencies, and industrial facilities on recurring orders with negotiated pricing.

Request a quote with your filter specs and estimated annual volume, or visit our Commercial Services page to see the full commercial lineup.

Are you set up for tax-exempt and government purchases?

Yes. We work with schools, government agencies, non-profits, and resale-exempt buyers regularly. Submit your certificate through our tax-exempt purchases page and we'll set up your account so future orders ship tax-free with no repeated paperwork. Purchase orders and government procurement are supported for established accounts.

About RememberTheFilter.com
Are these genuine name-brand filters?

Yes. Every filter we stock comes from a manufacturer we've vetted — AAF Flanders, Koch, NaturalAire, PrimeShield, and a short list of others. We don't operate as a marketplace, so there's no third-party seller swapping inventory behind the listing.

If you've had issues with counterfeit or low-quality filters from other sellers, that's one of the reasons customers switch to us. Real brands, same specs every time, same source every time.
