Product details
Filtrete deep-bed pleated air filter with MPR 1550 (≈MERV 12). Designed for whole-house media cabinets, with depths of 2", 4", 5", and 6". Greater pleat surface area means longer life and better fine-particle capture than 1" filters. Made by 3M.
What MPR 1550 actually means. MPR 1550 in 4–6″ deep-bed format is roughly equivalent to MERV 12. The deep pleat geometry yields significantly more media surface area than 1″ filters, which lengthens replacement intervals and reduces airflow restriction at the same efficiency rating.
Who it's for. Homes and small commercial spaces with media cabinets or 4–6" filter housings; high-efficiency, low-maintenance air quality.
When to replace. Every 6–12 months depending on depth, use, and indoor conditions. Inspect monthly — if light no longer passes through the pleats, it's time to change.
Sold in cases. Most sizes ship in cases of 4. The 16x20x4, 16x25x5, 20x25x5, and 20x25x6 sizes ship in cases of 2. The case quantity is shown on each variant and enforced at checkout — order quantity must be a multiple of the case size.

Commercial & facilities
Buying filters for a building?
Volume pricing on any size or MERV, plus recurring delivery schedules. We handle facilities and commercial orders daily and can usually match or beat distributor pricing.
A better place to buy Filtrete than the marketplace giants
We've sold residential and commercial HVAC filters online since 2006. Filtrete is one of the most counterfeited filter brands on the internet — here's how we make sure you get the real thing, in the size you need, in the case quantity you actually want.
Genuine 3M-manufactured Filtrete
Every Filtrete filter we ship is made by 3M, in original 3M packaging — direct from our authorized distribution channel. No third-party sellers swapping inventory mid-fulfillment. No "Filtrete-style" lookalikes from overseas factories.
If you've been burned by a marketplace listing that looked right but felt wrong, you'll notice the difference here.
Real case quantities, real prices
Filtrete is sold by the case at the manufacturer level — usually 4 filters per case. We pass that case structure straight through to checkout instead of repackaging into single units at marked-up "convenience" pricing.
No subscription lock-ins. No checkout-time price hikes. The price you see on the page is the price you pay.
Filter people, not search algorithms
Need help picking the right MPR? Comparing Filtrete to a 4″ deep-bed media filter? Sizing a non-standard return? You'll talk to a real person at our shop in Lake Stevens, Washington — not a chatbot trained to keep you on the page.
Family-founded in 2006. 50+ years of HVAC filtration experience behind the recommendations.
What does the MPR number mean?
MPR is 3M's proprietary rating system — Microparticle Performance Rating. Higher numbers capture finer particles, but also restrict airflow more.
Most residential HVAC systems are designed for MERV 8–11 (MPR 700–1000). MERV 13 (MPR 1900) increases static pressure — verify your blower can handle it before stepping up.
