Regular Air Conditioner Tune-Ups and Why You Need Them

What’s are regular air conditioner tune-ups, and why you need them, you ask? They are checkups that happen once or twice a year (depending on the years you've to have your air conditioner) which ensure your air conditioner is working correctly. During the checkups, which are done by HVAC technicians, the coils are cleaned so the machine is kept running smoothly.

They evaluate your unit’s coolant levels which is what allows the air to be colder. They check your ducks to ensure that air is flowing correctly and that it can do its job of preventing odors. The HVAC technicians also check and calibrate your in-home thermostat to ensure everything’s working properly and your electric bill isn't high!

However, despite the helpfulness of HVAC technicians, you should still be able to identify the signs your air conditioner needs a tune-up so you’ll know to call them. Here are some reasons why.

The Air Is Not Flowing Properly

The air not flowing correctly is a sign that it's time for your air ducts to get cleaned. When the air is on but it isn’t making its way through the household, you barely feel it. This means your electric bill is rising, and your home's temperature isn’t changing. When this occurs, check your filter and dust off your in-home vents.

A Bad Odor You Cannot Trace

When you smell a foul order and are unable to trace its location, sometimes it’s coming from your air conditioner's ventilation system. The cause can be many things from mildew, wires that need replacing, or an animal that’s trapped inside.

Noises Coming From the Unit

It’s time for a tune-up when your air conditioner is louder than average. When you hear banging, buzzing, hissing, or whistling, your air conditioner is letting you know it's time to call a professional.

The Air Is Not Cold

When the air coming from your conditioning unit is not cold, that’s a sure way to know it’s time for a regular air conditioner tune-up. Warm air could be the reason why you need it. There is no point in having the air on if it’s blowing warm air that only creates more heat. The atmosphere not being cold is a sign that your unit may need more coolant.

Water Is Coming From the AC Unit

When there is water coming from your air condition unit, that means there is a leak. A clogged pipe or the refrigerant can cause this. To ensure that cool air generates it’s crucial to inspect the unit outside your home.

To prevent any hick-ups in your airflow, don’t forget to remember the filter by ensuring that your AAF Flanders EZ flow filters are changed. Also, remember the signs listed here so you’ll know when it's time to call a professional.
