Product details
Per Koch Bulletin PB-798-3, the Koch KDF 600 Diffusion Media Cut Blanket is a bonded synthetic diffusion media designed for use in downdraft type spray booths where superior fractional efficiency and controlled laminar airflow is required for blemish-free finishes. Per Koch PB-798-3, KDF 600 utilizes a progressively dense fiber matrix enhanced with a specially formulated adhesive coating to provide exceptional performance in surface finishing operations. Per Koch PB-798-3, this formula prevents particle migration and creates unparalleled holding capacity, superior to other diffusion medias.
Per Koch PB-798-3, KDF 600 will improve FIRST PASS CAPABILITY and REDUCE REJECTS, which improves overall operational efficiency, saving time and money. Initial efficiency ratings of 99.9% at 5 microns and 100% at 10 microns make the KDF 600 ideally suited to provide world-class filtration for surface finishing operations.
What you get: pre-cut diffusion blankets sized for downdraft ceiling filter banks
Each variant is a single pre-cut blanket sized to fit specific downdraft booth ceiling filter bank panel dimensions — you don't cut these on-site like a bulk roll. Each variant ships at the exact factory-cut dimensions shown. The price you see for each variant is the per-blanket price. Available sizes:
- 35″x36″ (8.8 sq ft) — single pre-cut blanket
- 35″x72″ (17.5 sq ft) — single pre-cut blanket
- 45″x96″ (30.0 sq ft) — single pre-cut blanket
- 45″x120″ (37.5 sq ft) — single pre-cut blanket
- 47″x60″ (19.6 sq ft) — single pre-cut blanket

About diffusion media in downdraft spray booths
Diffusion media is installed at the ceiling of a downdraft spray booth — the air-intake side, opposite the exhaust filter bank. Conditioned booth air enters through this layer of diffusion media before passing over the painted surface. KDF 600's job is twofold:
- Final particulate capture before paint contact: Even with pre-conditioned makeup air, fine particulates (5 microns and below) can carry into the booth and land on a wet finish — the cause of fish-eyes, dust nibs, and other rejects. Per Koch PB-798-3, KDF 600's 99.9% efficiency at 5 microns captures these particles before they reach the painted surface.
- Laminar airflow distribution: The progressively dense fiber matrix evenly distributes the airflow across the entire booth ceiling, so air moves down past the painted part in smooth parallel streamlines — not turbulent eddies. This prevents overspray rebound and gives finishers the clean air pattern needed for high-quality refinish work.
Note: KDF 600 is intake-side diffusion media. For paint overspray collection at the booth exhaust, see the SprayStop family of paint arrestors.
Sizing and ordering notes
- Match the blanket dimensions to your booth's ceiling filter bank panels. Cut blankets are sized as Width x Length (e.g., 45″x96″).
- Each variant is a single pre-cut blanket. Order multiple blankets by adjusting the quantity at checkout.
- Need a non-standard size? Request a quote with your exact booth ceiling dimensions.
- Larger blankets ship as freight. 60″ and larger widths are oversized and ship LTL freight. Account for delivery time and freight handling on facility orders.
- Installation orientation: Per Koch PB-798-3, KDF 600 is installed at the air-intake side of the booth (ceiling on a downdraft booth). Refer to your booth manufacturer's documentation for specific installation procedure.
- Disposal: Follow your local hazardous waste regulations for paint-saturated media if KDF 600 is replaced after capture of paint particulates.

NESHAP compliance: 6H vs. 6X
Paint spray booth operations in the United States are regulated under the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP), codified in 40 CFR Part 63. The two subparts most relevant to spray booth filtration are Subpart 6H and Subpart 6X.
Auto Body & Miscellaneous Surface Coating
40 CFR Part 63 Subpart HHHHHH applies to auto body refinishing, collision repair, and miscellaneous surface coating of motor vehicles and mobile equipment.
Spray booth exhaust filtration must demonstrate paint overspray capture efficiency at the level required by the rule, with media tested under ASHRAE 52.1 or an equivalent EPA-recognized method.
Area Source Metal Fabrication & Finishing
40 CFR Part 63 Subpart XXXXXX applies to area-source metal fabrication and finishing operations, including spray painting of fabricated metal parts.
Compliance typically requires control of particulate hazardous air pollutants from spray application through filter-based capture systems verified for the specific coating operation.
Provided for general reference only and does not constitute regulatory or legal advice. The end user and facility operator are solely responsible for compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local air quality regulations. Filter selection for a regulated coating operation should be confirmed against the facility's air permit.
