Koch BioMAX mini-pleat HEPA platform.

The Koch BioMAX line is engineered for hospitals, cleanrooms, pharmaceutical compounding, biotech laboratories, and biocontainment — anywhere airborne contaminant control protects people, processes, and equipment. Mini-pleat construction with water-repellent microfiberglass media and fully-potted polyurethane sealant that eliminates bypass leakage. Efficiency tiers from 95% DOP through 99.999% ULPA, multiple frame materials, and cellsides for every standard housing.

Efficiency tiers across the BioMAX line

From 95% DOP through 99.999% ULPA.

BioMAX is built across the full HEPA efficiency spectrum. The right tier depends on what your environment requires of the filter — protective filtration ahead of a downstream HEPA, true HEPA-grade for hospital and cleanroom, individually scan-tested for facility validation, or ULPA for semiconductor and pharma fill-finish.

95% DOP

Below HEPA grade

Captures 95% of 0.3-micron particles. Used as a final filter where HEPA isn't required, or as a high-grade prefilter protecting downstream HEPA from premature loading.

99.97%

True HEPA · efficiency-tested

The standard HEPA grade. Captures 99.97% of 0.3-micron particles. Efficiency-tested at the factory — the right call for general HEPA HVAC where individual scan-test isn't required.

99.99%

Scan-tested with PAO

Higher-efficiency HEPA with individual scan-testing. Every square inch is verified at the factory. Required by many hospital, pharma, and cleanroom validation specs.

99.999%

ULPA · Pan style only

Ultra-Low Penetration Air. The highest grade Koch builds in BioMAX. Available in Pan Style configuration. Scan-tested with PAO. For semiconductor, pharma fill-finish, and certain biosafety applications.

Frame materials & cellside configurations

Every BioMAX is configurable to your spec.

The frame holds the media pack and grips your housing. Across the BioMAX line, frame material is matched to environment (corrosion, weight, chemical compatibility, fire classification) and cellside is matched to how the housing or holding-frame seats the filter.

Frame material

Aluminum

The default BioMAX frame. Rigid, structural, UL 900 fire classified. Specified for high-velocity recirculation and any application requiring metal-frame HEPA.

Frame material

Galvanized steel

Heavier-duty steel frame. Used for industrial-grade installations and applications where aluminum doesn't meet structural specifications.

Frame material

304 Stainless Steel

For wash-down environments, food and pharma, salt air, and any environment where corrosion resistance and metal contamination control are critical.

Frame material

ABS plastic

Molded ABS construction. Lighter than aluminum, fully corrosion-resistant, chemically compatible with cleanroom cleaning protocols. Pharmaceutical compounding and isolation rooms.

Frame material

Particle board (Wood)

For cleanrooms, ceiling grid systems, and applications where metal can't be present. Available in non-fire-rated (NFR) and fire-rated (FR) constructions.

Cellside (frame style)

DTF / STF / Pan / Wood / Headered

Five cellside configurations to match standard housings. Double Turn Flange (most common), Single Turn Flange, Pan Style for ducted plenum, Wood for cleanroom ceiling grids, and Non-Tested headered for prefilter and final-filter applications.

Platform specs

What's consistent across every BioMAX.

Mini-pleat construction, microfiberglass media, fully-potted sealant. The variables — frame, cellside, media efficiency, separator, sealant — are configured to your application; the platform underneath is the same.

Where BioMAX gets specified

Critical environments where bypass is not an option.

The fully-potted polyurethane sealant eliminates bypass leakage pathways common in mechanically-clamped HEPA assemblies. That's why BioMAX shows up in environments where the filter has to perform at its rated efficiency throughout service life — not just on the certificate.

Pharmaceutical compounding

USP 797 and 800 sterile compounding facilities, ISO Class 5/7 cleanroom suites, and pharmaceutical manufacturing where corrosion-resistant frames and chemical compatibility matter.

Hospital isolation & surgery

Operating rooms, isolation rooms, immunocompromised wards, and protective environment HVAC where ASHRAE 170 healthcare ventilation standards specify HEPA final filtration.

Biotech & research labs

BSL-2 and BSL-3 biocontainment, biosafety cabinet exhaust, and research lab supply air where serial-numbered scan-tested HEPA is required for facility validation.

Semiconductor & cleanrooms

Class 100 and Class 1000 cleanroom recirculation, semiconductor fabrication HVAC, and microelectronics environments needing high-velocity HEPA for laminar-flow zones.

Animal research facilities

Vivarium HVAC, animal holding rooms, and biomedical research facilities where particulate and pathogen control protect both animals and research integrity.

Aerospace & defense

Aerospace manufacturing cleanrooms, defense facility HEPA, and government installations where HEPA carries serial-number traceability for facility certification.

A HEPA filter is only as good as its seal. The BioMAX's fully-potted polyurethane pack-to-frame interface eliminates the bypass leakage pathways common in mechanically-clamped HEPA designs — which is why facility engineers specifying validation-grade filtration ask for it by name.
