Cross-reference service

Switching to Koch? We cross almost any filter in 24 hours.

Inherited filters from equipment you didn't spec? Original manufacturer backordered, discontinued, or priced out of reach? We work directly with Koch representatives to cross nearly any HEPA, high-purity, or commercial filter to a Koch equivalent — usually within a single business day.

How the cross-reference works

1
Send us what you have. Model number, dimensions, MERV or HEPA grade, quantity, and a photo of the existing filter if possible. Email support@rememberthefilter.com, text 425-515-2727, or submit a quote request.
2
We work Koch direct. Our team has a direct line of communication with Koch engineering reps. We route your spec through their cross-reference team to match the right Koch model — by media, face velocity, depth, and housing compatibility.
3
Quote back — usually within 24 hours. You get the Koch part number, lead time, pricing, and any equivalency notes (ASHRAE class, MERV match, pressure drop comparison). PO-ready, tax-exempt supported, net terms for qualified accounts.

What we can typically cross

  • HEPA & ULPA filters — Cleanroom terminal filters, isolation room HEPA, FFU panels.
  • High-purity & pharmaceutical — Compounding pharmacy, biocontainment, critical manufacturing.
  • Commercial bag & rigid — AHU final-stage pocket filters and V-bank rigid cells.
  • Pleated commercial panels — 1″, 2″, 4″ depths across MERV 8 through 13.
  • Activated carbon & gas-phase — Odor, VOC, and gaseous contaminant housings.
  • Industrial & paint booth — NESHAP overspray, intake air make-up, high-temp oven filtration.
  • Specialty & OEM — Filters spec'd by the original equipment manufacturer that nobody else will quote.

Not every filter has a Koch equivalent — and when that's the case, we'll tell you. This is an expert-driven service, not a universal promise.

The brand

Koch Filter Corporation: family-founded, American-made

Founded in 1966 and headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, Koch Filter Corporation has spent more than 50 years engineering and manufacturing HVAC filtration in the United States. They're a family-founded company that's grown from a single production line into one of the most respected names in commercial, industrial, and cleanroom filtration — without ever losing the engineering-first approach that built the catalog.

Koch filters are specified across healthcare, pharmaceutical manufacturing, semiconductor cleanrooms, automotive paint booths, data centers, federal facilities, and schools. Their BioMAX HEPA line handles critical environments; their Multi-Pleat line runs on commercial rooftops coast to coast; their SprayStop line meets NESHAP overspray requirements in industrial paint operations.

Residential & light commercial. Multi-Pleat XL8, XL10, XL11, Green13.
Commercial AHU. Multi-Cell, DURAMAX, Multi-Sak, MicroMAX.
Critical & industrial. BioMAX HEPA, OdorKleen carbon, SprayStop, Cure Clean.
The distributor

Why we added Koch.

We brought Koch into the RememberTheFilter lineup because we kept running into specs our existing catalog couldn't answer — high-temperature oven applications, NESHAP paint-booth overspray, MicroMAX bag filter specs, DURAMAX V-bank retrofits. Koch's catalog depth filled those gaps with an American-made, family-founded manufacturer we were proud to distribute.

Our team brings 50+ years of HVAC filtration experience to every Koch quote — whether you're spec'ing filters for a single rooftop unit or a facility-wide standing order.

— Beau French, Founder

Buying guide

How to choose the right Koch filter

A short, expert-written reference to help you match Koch product lines to your application, MERV requirement, and equipment constraints.

Match Koch product lines to your application

Koch's catalog covers nearly every HVAC and mechanical filtration application in the U.S. market. The right product line depends on what you're protecting, the pressure drop your system tolerates, the MERV rating your code requires, and whether the application is residential, commercial AHU, cleanroom, paint booth, or industrial process air.

Residential furnaces & light-commercial RTUs
1″ and 2″ Multi-Pleat XL8 (MERV 8), XL10, or XL11. MERV 8 for baseline, MERV 10–11 for allergy-sensitive households, Green13 where aerosol capture matters.
Commercial AHUs (air handling units)
4″ Multi-Pleat as a pre-filter, Multi-Cell rigid box filters as the final stage, or Multi-Sak / MicroMAX bag filters for extended-surface applications where depth allows longer service intervals.
Hospitals, clinics, and healthcare
Multi-Cell and MicroMAX MERV 13–14 for general HVAC, BioMAX HEPA for isolation rooms, operating theaters, and pharmacy compounding. Match ASHRAE 170 through product-line selection, not a single SKU. Build a BioMAX HEPA.

Koch MERV ratings in plain language

MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) measures how well a filter captures particles at specific size ranges. Higher MERV captures smaller particles but increases pressure drop. Koch builds across the full range, from basic fiberglass to HEPA.

MERV 1–4
Equipment protection. Koch fiberglass panels (Type GD, Type P polyester) and C&I disposable panels — maximum airflow, minimum resistance.
MERV 8
Baseline pleated. Multi-Pleat XL8 — captures pollen, dust mites, textile fibers. The common residential and light-commercial default.
MERV 10
Microparticle capture. Multi-Pleat XL10 — captures finer dust, mold spores, pet dander. Upgraded residential and commercial.
MERV 11
Enhanced commercial. Multi-Pleat XL11 — the floor for many commercial specs. Good balance of efficiency and pressure drop for RTUs and AHUs.
MERV 13
Aerosol capture. Multi-Pleat Green13, Multi-Cell M13, MicroMAX M13 — captures bacteria-sized particles and respiratory aerosols. Standard for healthcare and post-2020 school HVAC.
HEPA
Critical environments. BioMAX HEPA — 99.97% or 99.99% scan-tested capture at 0.3 microns. Cleanrooms, isolation rooms, pharmaceutical. Browse BioMAX HEPA or build a custom HEPA.
Decision tree

Where each Koch line fits in your filter strategy

If you're spec'ing filters for a building or facility for the first time — or evaluating Koch as a replacement for a current supplier — start here. Each path goes to the dedicated collection or builder with full specs and SKU coverage.

Standard HVAC building, residential or commercial?

Use Koch's Multi-Pleat line as the workhorse pleated panel filter. Match MERV to your code: MERV 8 baseline, MERV 11 for upgraded commercial, MERV 13 for healthcare, schools, and post-2020 indoor air quality specs. Need a non-catalog size? Build a custom Koch pleated filter.

Commercial AHU with depth available?

Multi-Cell rigid box filters or Multi-Sak / MicroMAX bag filters as the final stage. Longer service intervals than pleated panels, lower fan energy use over time. DURAMAX V-bank for retrofits where depth is constrained.

Hospital, cleanroom, or pharmaceutical?

BioMAX HEPA is Koch's high-capacity mini-pleat platform for critical environments — 99.97% or 99.99% scan-tested efficiency on 0.3 micron particles, fully-potted polyurethane sealant that eliminates bypass leakage. Aluminum (UL 900) or ABS plastic (corrosion-resistant) frame options. Build a BioMAX HEPA or browse standard sizes.

Paint booth or industrial coating?

The full Koch SprayStop line covers paint overspray collection — synthetic pads (S/SHC/HCX), fiberglass (FG), high-tack (STK for chromate & powder), Paint Pockets (Green/White), expanded paper (3000–3600 series). NESHAP 2-stage (E-Pak 650, post-1996 booths) and 3-stage (E-Pak 950, legacy & aerospace) compliance systems available. Browse paint booth filtration.

Need to remove odors, VOCs, or specific gases?

Particulate filters can't remove gas-phase contaminants — you need activated carbon. Koch's OdorKleen pleated panels handle 1″/2″/4″ HVAC drop-in. DuraPure honeycomb V-cell handles industrial scale (up to 26 lbs carbon per filter). DuraKleen CPS handles sub-ppm AMC for cleanrooms.

Odd size, non-standard housing, or custom requirements?

For non-catalog pleated or panel sizes in MERV 1–13, our Koch Custom Filter Builder handles 1/8″ increments with same-day quotes. For HEPA spec, our BioMAX HEPA Builder covers face size, cellside, media, separator, and sealant. Anything else (cartridge, OEM cross-reference, specialty), request a quote.

Sizing

Getting the Koch size right the first time

Koch nominal sizes run in standard increments — 12×12, 14×20, 16×25, 20×20, 20×25, 24×24, and so on — in 1″, 2″, and 4″ depths. The size printed on your existing filter frame is the nominal size; the actual cut size is typically 1/2″ smaller on each dimension.

If your rack isn't a standard size, you have two options:

  • Custom Koch pleated & panel sizes — available in 1/8″ increments through our Koch Custom Filter Builder. Same-day quotes Mon–Fri before 5 PM PST.
  • Special-size Koch catalog models — many Koch lines (XL8-HC, XL10-HC, XL11-HC, Green13 Specials, Multi-Sak Custom) have published special-size variants. Request a quote with your dimensions.

Not sure what size you need? Our how-to-measure guide walks through the three measurements and common pitfalls.

Depth guide

1″, 2″, 4″, or deeper?

Most Koch orders ship plant-direct from the Koch manufacturing location nearest to you, minimizing transit time. Koch operates four U.S. plants: Louisville, Kentucky (corporate HQ), Houston, Texas, East Greenville, Pennsylvania, and Mira Loma, California. East Coast orders typically route from PA or KY, Gulf and Southwest orders from TX, West Coast orders from CA. Some fast-moving SKUs also ship from our own distribution network. Our team chooses the fastest route at order placement. Free U.S. shipping on orders $50 and up.
