When you place an order with RememberTheFilter.com you are charged at the time of purchase. The main reason for this is most of our filters are custom made after an order is placed and some filters have longer lead times. As an online retailer the credit card authorization that takes place when you checkout is only valid for 7 days. After 7 days we would no longer be able to collect payment - thus not send your filters. If you shop with retailers that do charge after longer periods they most likely save credit card information - we don't save credit card information.

Measure the length, width, and thickness of your existing filter in inches. Always round to the nearest whole number if needed, and check the printed dimensions on the filter frame for accuracy.

MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) rates how effectively a filter captures particles. Higher MERV numbers trap smaller particles. For most homes, MERV 8–11 is ideal; MERV 13 is great for allergies but may restrict airflow in some systems.

Replace every 1–3 months depending on pets, allergies, home size, and usage. Homes with pets or smokers should change more frequently (every 30–60 days).

We primarily sell high-quality pleated filters in MERV 8, MERV 11, and MERV 13 ratings. We also carry basic fiberglass filters, rigid, hepa, washable, metal and more.

Our filters work with nearly all standard residential and commercial forced-air systems. Check your system's airflow requirements if using MERV 13.

Look for the airflow arrow on the filter frame—it should point toward the furnace or air handler (away from the return duct).

All filter orders ship for free out of the production plant nearest you; FL, NY, OK, IL, CA, NC or WA. Current prodctuin times will be listed on the product page and during checkout. Delivery details will be provided in your confirmation email.

We use UPS as our primary standard service carrier, but packages may also ship via USPS, FedEx or if a large order by freight LTL service.

Yes, we ship to both residential and commercial addresses, including apartments, offices, and PO boxes (with restrictions).

Pressure drop refers to the resistance a filter creates to airflow, measured in inches of water column (in. w.c.). Higher pressure drop can reduce airflow, forcing your HVAC system to work harder, increasing energy use and potentially straining the blower motor.

Higher MERV ratings (e.g., 11 or 13) trap smaller particles but create more resistance, increasing pressure drop. This can slightly restrict airflow in some systems, though most modern residential HVAC units handle MERV 11–13 well without significant issues.

It can if your system isn't designed for it—excessive restriction may strain the blower, reduce efficiency, or cause overheating in older units. Always check your system's manual or consult a technician before upgrading beyond MERV 8.

No—pleated filters (especially MERV 11–13) typically provide better long-term filtration for allergens and fine particles. Electrostatic filters can lose effectiveness as they load with dust and are better suited for basic dust control.

True HEPA filters (99.97% efficient at 0.3 microns) are usually too thick and restrictive for most home systems, causing severe airflow reduction. They're better in dedicated whole-home air purifiers or commercial setups.

Signs include reduced airflow from vents, noisy blower operation, higher energy bills, or frequent system cycling. A professional can measure total external static pressure (TESP) to diagnose.

Yes—thicker pleated filters have more surface area, allowing better airflow at the same MERV rating and lower pressure drop, making them ideal for higher filtration without straining the system.

As a filter captures more particles, pressure drop increases gradually. Pleated filters maintain efficiency longer but eventually restrict airflow more than basic ones when loaded.

Initial clean filter pressure drop should be under 0.2–0.3 in. w.c. for most systems. Change when it reaches the manufacturer's final resistance (often 0.5–1.0 in. w.c.) to avoid issues.

Yes—media cabinets (4–5 inch deep) allow higher MERV ratings with lower pressure drop due to larger surface area, improving air quality without overloading standard filter slots.

Higher MERV filters (13+) can capture some virus-carrying particles, but no residential filter fully removes airborne viruses. UV lights or dedicated purifiers are more effective for pathogens.
