Basic Fiberglass & Low-MERV Air Filters

Basic fiberglass filters protect your HVAC equipment and maintain maximum airflow. They capture lint, hair, large dust particles, and carpet fibers — keeping coils clean and motors running cool — without restricting CFM or driving up static pressure. They're the right call when your priority is equipment protection and energy efficiency rather than indoor air quality.

What "MERV 1–4" Actually Means

MERV 1–4 is the standard rating range for spun fiberglass and basic polyester media. These filters trap particles 10 microns and larger — the visible dust and debris that clogs evaporator coils, fouls blower wheels, and shortens equipment life. They're not designed to remove the smaller particles (pollen, mold spores, bacteria) that affect breathing — that's what MERV 8 and higher pleated filters do. Don't confuse "low MERV" with "poor filtration." For equipment protection, fiberglass is purpose-built for the job.
