Dusting and air quality

Dust is a common problem in most homes and businesses. Dust can be a combination of small particles including dirt, skin cells, pet dander and other debris that can accumulate in the air and on surfaces. Dust can cause a variety of health problems, including allergies, asthma, and other respiratory issues. It can also be a source of unpleasant odors and can make it difficult to keep your home clean.

The best way to reduce dust in a home is to keep it clean. Vacuuming regularly, replacing your air filters and dusting surfaces can help to reduce the amount of dust in the air. One catch to vacuuming is it does put more into the air so you should dust after your vacuum. It's also important to keep your windows and doors closed to prevent dust from entering the home if you have nearby construction or other factors that might worsen dust around the house. Using air filters, especially pleated MERV rated air filters and air purifiers can help to reduce the amount of dust in the air and that settles on furniture.

What are the sources of dust in the home? It could include carpets and rugs, which can trap dust. Our beloved pets contribute to dust as well so it is important to keep pets groomed and bathed regularly to reduce the amount of pet dander in the home. Keeping clutter to a minimum will help when you do dust, as our collection of "things" can trap dust and make it difficult to clean.

Good news is it's possible to reduce the amount of dust in a home and improve air quality. By doing so you can help to reduce the risk of some health problems and make it easier to keep your home clean and dust free.
